Hiking up to its peak “Taiko Iwa” which is a big granite rock, has a stunning view.
It is very popular and looks easy though, sometimes the condition will be serious and severe so proper equipment is necessary, at least a jacket and a proper trekking shoes. No cotton and jeans are recommended.
Gazing over the slope of the green forest and the view of the high mountain ranges, which is much higher than peaks in Kyushu region.
And talk about the unique nature of the island, created by the high peaks and co-relationship with the ocean.
Walking through the beautiful forest with giant cedars, thick mosses and pure water, sometimes it is nice and misty in the forest.
A great accomplishment is waiting for you.

Yakusugi Cedar Land

The view like the one from “Taiko Iwa” does not exist though, it has its own beauty and silence.
See more historical side of the island, mosses are vibrant and older cedars are here and there, they are equally as much as Shiratani ravine.
And there are some options depending on your experiences, ranges from 30min easy walk without proper equipment, to 210min for intermediate and furthermore, to the peak called “Tachu dake 太忠岳” 1497m, through the land. It demands some experiences, fitness, mental and proper gear and also flexible mind to the fickle weather here. The peak has stunning view with its unique environment.
And for hikers, there are another option to see “Yamato Sugi cedar 大和杉” 3000yo and located 1290m in elevation, trail through the park.

Snorkeling tour is available from July to September, please ask for other seasons.
Extra fee may be charged for the private tour as requested.
About the payment, only cash on the day is available at the moment, because of the canceling of the tour due to the unsuitable weather.
Please prepare them beforehand, the ATM service is still limited in the island sometimes.
